About Us
Balaguru Sambandam, MD, FACS, of North Tarrant Health Providers, is a board-certified surgeon providing elective general surgery and emergency and trauma surgery to residents of Fort Worth, Texas, and surrounding communities. Areas in which Dr. Sambandam excels include hernia repairs and other abdominal surgeries, endocrine surgery, and specialized procedures for conditions like hidradenitis.
Dr. Sambandam studied at the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (TAMS) at the University of North Texas (UNT) in Denton, Texas. Before medical school, he obtained a bachelor's degree in computer science from UT Austin. He then worked for about 7 years as a software developer before going back to school to get an additional bachelor's degree in pure mathematics while he completed the prerequisite undergraduate courses for medical school.
Dr. Sambandam was a recipient of the Southwestern Medical Foundation Scholarship from 2004 to 2007, and in 2008, he graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School with a medical degree. He spent the next five years completing his general surgery residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
Since finishing his residency in 2013, Dr. Sambandam has been delivering expert surgical care in acute hospital settings as well as seeing patients at his private practice. His experience and surgical proficiency are widely recognized, and he has become highly skilled in the use of robotic-assisted surgical systems that offer exceptional outcomes for his patients.
